Durban –The organisers of the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN are proud to support TREE’s vision of Early Childhood Development by welcoming the organisation as an official charity in 2017.
“Sport has the ability to change lives,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports. “By supporting TREE we look forward to changing the lives of many of Durban’s children. Runners can also show their support by making a donation towards this inspirational organisation when entering the event online. We are excited to host the inaugural event in October and invite all Durbanites to #SupportThe031 by #RunningThe031.”
Founded in 1984, TREE is a non-profit organisation that specialises in Early Childhood Development, Resource and Training.
“TREE’s vision is to ensure that young children develop to their full potential in line with their rights and needs,” says Bertha Magoge, Director of TREE. “We are delighted to be chosen as an official Charity of the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN. Through this partnership we hope to create an understanding of the value and power that ‘play’ has in the development of young children as well as to elicit support for our programmes and activities.”
“The event itself will create a wonderful opportunity for families, friends and colleagues to be active and social,” continues Magoge. “Family participation means that young children can be encouraged to be active too. Children learn from experiences. It will give them an opportunity to experience something different. It is through such partnerships and engagements that meaningful contributions can be made to communities. Together with the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN we look forward to changing more lives.”
The FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN will highlight the true beauty of Durban, while granting entrants the unique opportunity to explore their city. In addition to exciting on-route entertainment and vibrant event atmosphere, entrants can look forward to exploring iconic landmarks including: the Moses Mabhida Stadium, City Hall, the Durban Railway Station, The Old Station Building, Durban Harbour, Natal Maritime Museum and the Golden Mile Promenade to mention just a few.

FNB Business is proud to be the title sponsor of the FNB Durban 10K CITYSURFRUN. This 10km road running race seeks to bring experienced and novice runners from the city of Durban and surrounds together, through the common goal of road-running, recreation, sports and fun. This sponsorship forms part of our ongoing strategy to support local and community events that focus on a healthy lifestyle, family involvement and impact the communities they operate in positively. It allows us to engage with our clients and the broader community through the memorable experience created by the event. At the core of our strategy is to also support an event like this that contributes towards the rejuvenation, cleaning and revival of the city-center.
